Privacy Policy

Hexfall is a turn-based hex strategy game for iOS, made by an independent solo developer. We built Hexfall to be fun, not to harvest your data. This policy explains exactly what the App Store version of Hexfall collects, why, how long we keep it, and how to reach us.

1. Who we are

Hexfall is an independent, one-person game. For any privacy question or request, use the contact form on the support page (topic: Privacy question).

2. What we collect

We collect a small amount of data, and only what the game actually needs to work:

• Leaderboard display name (user content). If you choose to submit a score to a leaderboard, you pick a display name. That name is shown publicly on leaderboards. It is the only piece of information you actively provide, and providing it is optional — you can play the entire game without ever entering one.
• Gameplay analytics and diagnostics. We collect anonymous usage and stability data — for example, which features are used, in-game events, performance metrics, and crash/diagnostic reports. This helps us fix bugs and balance the game. This data is not linked to your identity and is not tied to any account.

3. What we do NOT collect

• No advertising and no ad identifiers. Hexfall shows no ads.
• No third-party tracking and no data brokers. We do not sell or share your data for advertising or tracking.
• No accounts, no email, no real name, no contacts, no location, no photos.
• No voice or audio recording. An optional voice feature existed only in private TestFlight builds and has been removed from the App Store version. The public App Store build does not access your microphone or record any audio.

4. Why we collect it

The leaderboard display name exists so players can compete and recognize their own scores. Analytics and diagnostics exist to keep the game stable, find and fix bugs, and tune game balance. We do not use any of this data for advertising, profiling, or sale.

5. How data is stored and processed

Hexfall's backend runs on Google Firebase (a Google Cloud service), which stores leaderboard entries and processes analytics and diagnostics on our behalf. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections. Because the data we collect is anonymous and not account-linked, we generally cannot connect it back to a specific person.

6. Data retention

Leaderboard display names and scores are kept for as long as the leaderboard is active so the rankings remain meaningful. Analytics and diagnostic data is retained only as long as it is useful for improving the game, after which it is deleted or aggregated. You can ask us to remove a leaderboard entry at any time (see below).

7. Children (ages 9+)

Hexfall is rated for ages 9 and up. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond the optional, player-chosen leaderboard display name described above, and Hexfall contains no ads and no third-party tracking. Because we ask players not to enter real names or personal details as their display name, please choose a nickname rather than a real name. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has submitted information you want removed, send a message via the contact form and we will remove it.

8. Your choices and requests

• Don't share a name: simply skip submitting a leaderboard score — the rest of the game works without it.
• Delete your data: use the contact form (topic: Data deletion request) with the display name you used and we will remove the associated leaderboard entry. Because analytics are anonymous and not identity-linked, individual analytics records generally cannot be isolated, but we will honor any request to the extent we are able.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
